Young Artist Instrumental Competition

Prizes:
1st Place: Appearances as soloist with The Orchestra of Northern New York on both the March 14th and 15th concerts with the work performed at the competition, $500 prize money, and two complimentary tickets to each of the March 14th and 15th concerts.
2nd Place: $300 prize money to be awarded at the March 15th concert along with two complimentary tickets to each of the concerts.
3rd Place: $150 prize money to be awarded at the March 15th concert along with two complimentary tickets to each of the concerts.
Rules and Regulations
1. Contestants must be residents of St. Lawrence, Lewis, Jefferson, Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Warren, or Hamilton Counties.
2. The Competition is open to instrumentalists in grades 9 through 12. This includes Woodwinds, Brass, Strings, Keyboard Percussion, Piano, and Harp.
3. Contestants must be prepared to play a piece or movement from the Competition Repertoire List FROM MEMORY. The length of the work is limited to 15 minutes or one movement. Please Click here for the list.
4. Contestants must provide their own accompanist and must audition in person. No tapes of accompaniments permitted.
5. Contestants must bring one copy of their audition piece (solo part and piano reduction or score) to the auditions.
6. At the discretion of the judges, contestants may be interrupted or subjected to time restrictions.
7. Parents, teachers, and friends are invited and encouraged to attend the Competition.
8. The decision of the judges is final, and the judges reserve the right not to award any level of the prizes.
9. The first place winner must be available for performances with The Orchestra of Northern New York on both March 14 & 15, 2008. The audition piece will serve as the performance piece.
10. Second and third prize winners must be present at the March 15th concert to receive prize monies. First Prize winner MUST perform the winning composition on the March 14th & 15th concerts.
11. Entries must be postmarked no later than January 4, 2008. No late entries will be accepted.

A. Completed Application/Teacher Certification Form. Only completed forms will be considered. Click here for an application form.
B. Non-refundable application fee of $30 made payable to The Orchestra of Northern New York Competition.
